The Human League - Don't You Want Me

"Sometimes the most urgent and vital thing you can possibly do is take a complete rest."
-- Ashleigh Brilliant

No current updates for the time being!

Sometimes, your body politely suggests that you slow down and relax once in a while. In the event that you ignore it, your body becomes a little more insistent, and goes on strike to illustrate this point. And after ten days of suffering from what had started off as a rather innocuous cold, and had developed over that time - the more I ignored it, and continued with study and work - into one which was accompanied by swollen lymph glands, hoarse throat and a fever, I finally took heed and spent the day home from college. It was with resigned admission that I should have taken better care of myself that I lay in bed and slept away the hours, deciding that, in my condition, there wasn't a great deal else that I could do.

It must have worked, because my runny nose has gone away for the most part and I feel more energetic, and came downstairs to potter about some time in the late afternoon. I think my immune system has taught me a valuable lesson about what happens when I neglect the needs of my body in favour of my packed schedule - and, hopefully, just in time, because I have a trial shift with a possible new employer this coming evening and I need all the energy I can get if I'm to impress them. The job is available at a somewhat up-market, country carvery-style pub in Great Horkesley called The Yew Tree, and I would really like to work there... so please, wish me luck with this! Given my current state of physical being, I may well need all the good fortune I can get.

The psychics at the Headgate Theatre (see my previous entry) were very good! I wasn't picked for a reading, but my friend Abi's grandfather was allegedly contacted. They managed to find out that he had curly hair, which he slicked back, and had been in the armed forces, where he had gained numerous medals. The psychics also knew that her grandfather's favourite flowers in his garden were tulips! As well as this, they correctly deduced that Abi hated spaghetti bolognese (which is something I don't reckon you could just wildly guess) and that she did too much for others, rather than making time for herself (something I could've told her all along, but oh well.) They also said that there were orbs around Abi, suggesting that she had faith healing powers and that she should use them! She was a bit teary by this point, bless her, but we both thought this was pretty amazing. I'll definitely see them again if they happen to pass by for another meeting.
I must add that one woman there was extremely rude. She was quite obviously a skeptic, as she quite vocally made clear throughout the show - muttering things like, "What bullshit," and "Oh, whatever!" She was also tapping her feet and sighing impatiently - even pretending to snore! Everyone around her was getting pretty annoyed, including myself, but she ignored the numerous "ahem" noises I was making, and despite several attempts from her friend to get her to shut up, she wouldn't be quiet for the whole thing. I just found this to be obnoxious and a tremendously unnecessary display. I mean, surely if you don't believe in psychic ability, you wouldn't pay £6.00 to see a show all about it? She even had a reading from one of the psychics, and was still rude and noisy. What the fuck is her problem!?

Anyway, it is getting late, and I do have to be up fairly early, despite the slight lie-in I get as I have no first lesson on a Tuesday. I also have a pretty hectic day ahead, what with this trial shift, so I shall get going off to bed, lest I get any sicker beforehand. Goodnight, all!
