from deaths to devmeets

Our Lady Peace - Not Enough

"There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness."
-- Carl Jung

Well, firstly, evidently I've been on somewhat of a hiatus lately. Basically, a lot of things happened, all at once (typical, eh?) and I was preoccupied for a while as I tried to deal with what was occurring around me.
I'm okay now, so that's what matters, I suppose. I'm pretty much back to pottering around and larking about with my friends again. Things got pretty heavy back here in Sarahland, but now it should be just fine. ...well, at least until something else happens. x_x;

So, what happened, you ask? I'm afraid to tell you the sad news that my baby godson died the other week. He wasn't producing amino fluids, so his lungs weren't developing. The mother, a close friend of mine, went into a premature labour, and delivered little Alex, but unfortunately he didn't make it, and passed away in her arms.
The mother is obviously in a lot of emotional turmoil at the moment, as well as the father, but they are beginning to cope a little better now the funeral has been held. However, I'd appreciate it if you could keep them in your thoughts at what is, for them, a really difficult time.

In happier news, college is starting for me soon! I have my induction interview-type thinger with my personal tutor on the 31st August. :) I'm pretty psyched about goin' back to college and getting on with my life. Sitting on my arse all day really isn't as desirable as it sounds, trust me.

I've been somewhat occupied lately with more social pursuits. I went to a deviantART Meet on Saturday, which was, in every sense of the word, fantastic. Much drunken fun was had by all, and many amazing moments were experienced. Losing my devmeet virginity certainly was an experience I shan't be forgetting in a hurry. here is a journal entry on deviantART detailing the highlights of the meet, and on the wonderful time I had that day.
Here's to many more fantastic devmeets, folks!

I'm going to see Snakes On A Plane next Tuesday with my friend Annika and my older brother, Paul - yes, I'm fully aware of the ludicrosity of the movie title. I'm going for a laugh. Hopefully, it'll be a lot of fun! ^^
