"Rome - the city of visible history, where the past of a whole hemisphere seems moving in funeral procession with strange ancestral images and trophies gathered from afar."
-- George Eliot

I'm back from my holiday with loppi and claire in Rome, which was utterly fantastic in every way. The food was delectable (naturally!) the architecture breathtaking, and the artwork was possibly the most inspiringly beautiful I have ever, ever seen. I felt literally giddy with awe on numerous occasions when viewing the works of such masters as Michaelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli and Caravaggio. Rome's artwork truly offered a great wealth of spectacle and wonder, and it was this aspect of the magical place which left me feeling the most enthralled. However, the weather was overwhelming in a different way altogether. By the next morning of being in Rome, I was already a sweaty, red lobster-esque beast of smelliness. But this didn't distract me from enjoying what was an amazing experience... there's no other way to describe it. I've spent this whole paragraph trying not to overuse the word "amazing" so I'd better stop! But I definitely recommend visiting Rome. It truly lives up to its moniker "city of dreams". And be sure to visit with friends. Me, loppi and claire had such a wonderful time, and I could not have had such a giggle with anyone else. They were a great deal of fun, and brilliant travelling companions. It was a laugh-a-minute trip with them in the ranks and I can't wait to go away with them again!

But now it's back to college. We're now starting the A2 course, and I already feel so daunted at the prospect of completing all this coursework! There was hardly any desk study work to do last year (relying mostly on the exam - and we'll soon find out how that went ) and this year we're being positively inundated with the stuff! I only hope I can take the pressure and that they'll allow me to even try! I had a great first year of college and felt so grateful to have completed it successfully.

Lastly, thankyou to all of the kind-hearted people who extended their support on my blog entry when I lost Onion. I was really overwhelmed by the amazing response. Some of you appeared to have been truly moved by the entry I'd written in his honour, and that makes me glad. I wanted people to understand what a special little guy he was, and I'm happy that you all did. I received some amazingly heartfelt comments that had me in tears to read. I went to most of your pages to thank you for your lovely words, but I shall again here so that I can express my gratitude once more. I don't think I can do so enough!

Thanks and virtual to:
anne, jessica, erin, lissi, ashley, dee, jihyun, chanel, jae, kris, miss o, kari, heidi, amy, wattle and lona.
