Sometimes you can find a song you identify with - it says everything about a certain aspect of your life and it holds a special meaning in your heart. Here's my list of the tunes that make me laugh, cry, dance around the room, or think about things.

THE SONGS

Highway To Hell by AC/DC
This is a real feel-good song. I love it. When I went to Belgium back in high school, I borrowed my friend Amanda's AC/DC album and listened to it, on repeat, for pretty much every minute of the coach journey. I still think it makes a great travel song, and it's great for leaping around the room playing air guitar, too. *lol*

C'Est La Vie by B*Witched
It's been years since this song came out and no one can stand it anymore, but I love it. It brings back memories of when I was younger, and just starting to get into listening to music. I went to modern dance class, and this is the song I danced to at the school fête, so I find it nostalgic and summery.

Move Bitch by Ludacris & Mystikal
One of my ultimate pet hates is slow-walking people who go right in front of you and hold you up. I appreciate that not everyone's in a rush and has a purpose like me, but it's still bloody annoying. When I am stuck behind one of these doddering cretins, I love to turn my iPod on and listen to this song. :D

Red Light by Johnny Lang
My good friend, Sarah, told me to listen to Red Light when I was feeling really depressed, telling me it helped her when she felt the same way. And you know what, it really did help me, too. Now I listen to it whenever I need to get through bad times, but I enjoy the track regardless of how I feel when I turn it on.

Imagine by John Lennon
This idealistic and hopeful song often brings me to tears, because it's how I'd wish for the world to become. I would love it if people didn't fight over a simple difference in opinion - perhaps I'm being too optimistic, but the fact that this song affects so many people (and the fact Lennon felt inspired to write it in the first place) surely means I am far from alone.

Night & Day by Billie Holiday
Yes, I know - this song is positively ancient. My mother used to sing it to me as a lullaby when I was very little, so I find it really relaxing. The other day, my mother was walking past and heard that I was playing this song, and lingered in the doorway just so she could listen to it, too.

Lara's Theme by Richard Clayderman
This song comes from the old movie Dr. Zhivago. It's another song my mother used to sing to me a lot when trying to get me to fall asleep. I also have a music box that she gave me that was handed down to her from Grandma that also plays the tune, but it makes me cry because I miss my grandmother very much.

The First Cut Is The Deepest by Sheryl Crow
The First Cut Is The Deepest shows how you can find it hard to trust and love anyone once someone else has hurt you once, even if you move onto another person. I know how the singer feels in this song and it's a very sympathetic track that takes account of the feelings behind this sort of situation.

Another Dumb Blonde by Hoku
It's a break-up-and-move-on song, great for anyone who's endured a relationship with a cheater, or a partner who made them feel bad about themselves and ate away at their confidence. It's feel-good pop music, cheesy and teenybopper-y - but it makes you smile and the lyrics make you think positively.
